Minnesota Zoo Boardwalk

This project started as a patio/plaza in between he existing display building and the new Animal Hospital at the Minnesota Zoo.  The site was challenging; with massive grade changes adjacent to the building, the challenge to provide access for staff parking, delivery vehicles, pedestrian circulation between the buildings, and a grand experience for Hospital visitors (donors) was daunting.

Working with Design Level Architecture we began to visualize a floating boardwalk system that would integrate floating cable systems along with supporting retaining walls below.  This boardwalk would mimic other boardwalk systems in the Zoo, but would be next level in its presentation.
