The Main Gardens
The Main Gardens at the Dawes Arboretum, Heath Ohio…
This design effort serves to restructure the central space located just below the existing gift shop and main parking area.
The existing bridges will be removed and the area will be regraded to consolidate into a single covered bridge passing over a recirculating waterfall. The Crevasse Garden will be preserved and adjusted to accommodate the new surrounding gardens. The Summer House will receive a face lift, and the existing drainage channel will be re-sculpted to become an amenity for the space as well as a functional drainage basin. A boardwalk will allow the user to engage the new stream bed and lead to the Special Events walkway.
The Special Events Garden will include sculpture and topiary opportunities, annual and perennial areas, bench seating areas for the guests, as well as the special events tent. The Garden path will lead by the Bosque Garden that will be reminiscent of European bosques with crushed gravel and cafe tables, towards the newly renovated rest room facilities in the Zand Education Center.
More images and descriptions of this awesome collection of gardens is coming soon! Hopefully we will have construction progress photos soon!
