Another great project with Showcase Lawn and Landscape

The Anderson Residence was a great opportunity to do large scale master planning that lead to landscape concepts, and ending with detailed biddable construction drawings. This project is currently under construction, and the back should be completed summer of 2024, while the front is currently in the design process and should begin the construction process soon thereafter.

A 3d video fly through was commissioned to allow the client to really see how everything would come together, and made design decisions much easier for the client to make.

The wish list in the back was long, including a pool, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit area, as well as solving several grading and drainage issues that were created during the construction of the custom home.

The house had just completed construction and the grading was very steep by the lower pond. A detailed grading plan was completed and allowed not only the grade to be relieved, but also offered a beautiful stone slab walkway down to the pond 14 feet below.  Native Ohio boulders, landscape, stone slabs, and strategic lighting make the once dangerous slope a destination point.

The middle pond naturally overflowed into the lower pond, and created an opportunity for passive overflow waterfalls.  These passive falls are both functional from a drainage standpoint, but also will provide the sound of water in the landscape.

This client loved to entertain, so the pool, kitchen and fire pit spaces were envisioned from that approach.  A full service kitchen with sink, oven, griddle, smoker, and plenty of serving space was envisioned with overhead fans and heaters.  The pool deck was designed generously in pavers, and fire bowls add a luxurious feel to the area.

The custom home was designed by the client and Red Architecture
The hot tub deck was designed to be just off of the owner’s suite and required grading design as well as a large retaining wall to create a functional approach from the suite to the deck to the pool.
Nestled into the grade, the wall and landscape provide privacy, while allowing views across the pool and onto the woods and ponds beyond.
The client wanted plenty of hardscape in the front to handle the parking surge of entertaining visitors as well as turn space for their autos, trailers, and campers.  Recycled plastic grass pavers surround the round about allowing visitors to park in the grass without fear of sinking in or ruining the grass. The client wanted the center of the circle to be understated, so in lieu of a fountain or statue, large elevated boulders and landscape would serve as the focal point.  A 6’ retaining wall above the upper pond, as well as horse fencing serve as the boundaries in auto court area.

The final approach from the road (nearly 500 yards away) is currently in the design process, and will include a grand gated entrance with turn space, as well as a delivery kiosk.

Overall hand rendered concept plan…
